The location’s history started in 1943 when Jolly and Lenhardt founded J&L Tank. During the first two decades, they produced crude oil and petroleum trailers for the Southeast. In 1966 the plant began producing pneumatic dry bulk trailers, and in 1971 the engineering team began developing the self-loading vacuum / pneumatic trailer. This new trailer design was patented in 1985, and is still meeting the market’s demands today.
Heil Trailer International, Co. purchased J&L Tank in 1993 because of their focus on innovation, customer service, and customer relationships that are complimentary to Heil’s niche markets. Located in Rhome, Texas, this 98,630 square foot facility operates very similar to Heil’s plant in Athens, Tennessee and produces a diverse product line committed to continuous improvement based on Lean Manufacturing concepts. This reduces production costs, shortens lead times, and provides better quality product for our customers. Heil Texas is ISO Certified.
