Groendyke Awards Two Jonathan Luevano Memorial Scholarship
For the second year in a row, Groendyke Transport of Enid, Okla., selected recipients for its Jonathan Luevano Memorial Scholarship. This year’s recipients are Gabrielle Parrish, of Jacksonville, N.C., and Jacy Stroud, of Sweeny, Texas.
The scholarship honors the memory of Jonathan Luevano, a driver at Groendyke’s Fort Worth, Texas terminal who was shot and killed May 7, 2015, while delivering fuel to a local convenience store. In honor of his memory, the tank-truck company created scholarships employees’ children and grandchildren.
Parrish, 18, is the daughter of Robbie Parrish, manager of Groendyke’s Fort Worth terminal. As the top applicant, Parrish will receive a $1,500 scholarship. She has been accepted by University of North Texas, where she plans to major in biology this fall.
Stroud, 18, is granddaughter of Groendyke clerk Judy Stout. Stroud has been accepted by Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, where she plans to major in pre-occupational therapy.
