Eric Hanson has joined Birmingham, Ala.-based J&M Tank Lines Inc. as vice president of human resource development, company officials announced recently.

Hanson, an Auburn University graduate in transportation distribution, is a 24-year veteran of the trucking industry.

“With a diverse background specializing in the tank truck industry, and an emphasis in operations, third-party logistics, recruitment, retention and personnel development, Hanson is the perfect addition to the J&M team,’’ the company said in a press release.

Prior to joining J&M, Hanson organized, developed and managed a recruitment and retention department for a major tank truck company. While there, he led the department in reducing driver turnover, increasing the size of the fleet and improving overall communication with the drivers.

Hanson is a charter member and on the board of the International Society of Recruiting and Retention Professionals.
