Our purpose and coverage

Tank Transport serves carriers, fleets, drivers, equipment suppliers, terminals, tank wash and repair facilities, shippers, and other businesses involved in liquid and dry-bulk transportation.

We cover regulations, safety, equipment, markets, technology, and company developments. We aim to explain what happened, what the available evidence shows, and why it matters to the industry.

Sourcing and verification

We prioritize primary sources where available, including government records, regulations, filings, official datasets, technical documents, and information provided directly to Tank Transport. Established journalism and trade reporting can provide additional evidence and context.

Material claims are checked against underlying source material, with links or attribution wherever practical. Company announcements establish what a company says; product, performance, safety and commercial claims are attributed unless independently established. Estimates, forecasts, allegations and uncertainties are identified as such. Analysis is distinguished from facts and official findings.

Information discovered through search tools or social media must be traced to an identifiable source and evaluated in context.

Articles based on documents and published sources are not presented as original interviews or on-location reporting unless that reporting actually occurred.

Independent news and paid content

Independent coverage and company announcements

Relevant company announcements, technical contributions, and educational submissions may be considered on editorial merit without a publication fee. Submission does not guarantee coverage. Tank Transport controls independent editorial selection, angle, wording, and publication timing.

Submitted material may be edited, shortened, supplemented, delayed, or declined. Coverage based substantially on information from a company, agency, or organization is attributed to that source. Publication does not constitute an endorsement.

Guest commentary

Outside commentary identifies the contributor and relevant affiliation, with an appropriate guest, contributor, or opinion label. Contributors’ views do not automatically represent Tank Transport’s views.

Sponsored content

Customer-directed marketing articles, commissioned promotional features and agreed promotional placements are paid content. They are identified as Sponsored or Sponsored Content, with the sponsoring company named before the article’s narrative. Paid relationships are disclosed explicitly, including when content is described as a partner feature.

Who writes an article does not, by itself, determine whether it is sponsored. The commercial arrangement and the purpose and control of the content determine how it is identified. Paid material remains subject to our accuracy and visual standards.

Editorial independence

Tank Transport has advertising and other commercial relationships within the industry. Coverage of an advertiser or customer does not by itself make an article sponsored.

Checking facts or technical details with a company is different from granting it approval over independent coverage. Tank Transport retains the editorial decisions described above; paid promotional work is identified separately.

Authorship and editorial responsibility

Neal Hightower, Website Director & Digital Publisher, directs the digital newsroom and makes its final editorial decisions. Gary Hightower is Publisher & Owner of Tank Transport Trader.

Bylines and source attributions should identify the person or organization responsible for the work. Tank Transport retains human editorial responsibility, including when digital tools assist with production.

We may use AI-assisted tools for research assistance, document comparison, outlining, drafting and editing. Their output requires human review and does not replace checking material facts against underlying records, data or reporting. AI-generated answers and search summaries are not evidence.

AI must not be used to invent quotations, interviews, sources, events or evidence. Information that cannot be adequately verified should be removed, clearly qualified or left unpublished.

Corrections, clarifications and updates

We aim to correct meaningful factual errors as promptly as practical after confirming them.

  • Correction: Fixes information that was wrong when published. A material factual correction should include a dated note explaining the error and what changed.
  • Update: Adds a later development or newly available information. Substantial updates should carry an updated date or explanatory note; an update does not replace a correction when the original was wrong.
  • Clarification: Makes wording or context clearer. Minor spelling, grammar, or formatting changes may be made without a note when they do not change the meaning.

We review correction requests against the available evidence and determine whether a correction, clarification, or update is warranted.

Email media@tanktransport.com with the article URL, the information you believe is incorrect, and any supporting records or sources.

Images, charts, and visual material

Visuals must have appropriate permission, licensing, or a valid public-domain basis. Company-supplied material also requires appropriate usage rights. Credits and license conditions must be respected; credit alone does not establish permission.

Documentary photographs should accurately describe their subject and context. Illustrative or composited images must be distinguishable from documentary photographs. AI-generated images are labeled as AI-generated illustrations, not presented as evidence of a real event.

Charts and graphics should identify their underlying data sources and relevant dates or periods.

Press releases and contributed submissions

We welcome relevant news, technical information and industry commentary. Contributors are responsible for having the right to supply their text, images and supporting material.

Review the submission guidelines and follow the existing submission process. The editorial and paid-content distinctions above apply to submitted material.
