National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC) named Barbara Herman of K Limited Carrier as the association’s 2018-2019 Professional Tank Truck Driver of the Year Grand Champion, earning her the William A. Usher Sr. trophy.
She was one of eight finalists with 25 million accident-free miles between them, and is the first woman to win the top driver honor.
The award “recognizes an exemplary tank-truck company driver or independent contractor with the most reliable and safe transportation of liquid and dry bulk commodities,’’ NTTC said in a press release.
Herman has logged 1.7 million accident-free miles over her 34-year career as a driver. She has been involved in various civic activities, including the Lutheran Emergency Response Team, Make a Wish Foundation, Keeping Our Girls Safe, Special Olympics for the Blind, and Beach House Family Shelter.
