One extra axle can really make a difference. That’s the message from Heil Trailer’s Design and Engineering Team as they collaborated with their Salt Lake City dealer, Semi Service. That was the challenge: go beyond the standard 4-axle design.
The solution was the new 5-axle,12,000-gallon petroleum trailer developed specifically to help customers meet transportation challenges on the roads of Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, South Dakota, Washington, Oregon and Montana.
“Throughout the history of Heil Trailer, we’ve listened and worked with dealers and customers to create new products and new solutions, it’s in our DNA,” said Ryan Rockafellow, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at EnTrans International.
“We’re really impressed with what we’ve been able to do with this trailer,” said Danny Hansen, Manager of Truck Operations at Sinclair Oil.
Latest Improvements
This latest innovation enables customers to haul more in fewer runs. With greater capacity, the 5-axle trailer can increase payload by as much as 6%. Additionally, its lightweight, aerodynamic design, achieved using next-generation aluminum components, minimizes tare weight and reduces fuel consumption by 8%.
Specifically designed to meet the transportation challenges of hauling loads in the Northwest U.S., where high-wind conditions and mountainous terrain prevail, its lower center of gravity enhances rollover stability, while frame rails underneath the body add strength. “Our customer’s safety and comfort are critical, and that realization lives in the design of every product we produce,” added Rockafellow.
“We’ve been able to increase our product haul per load and reduce our fuel consumption. The 5-axle trailer provides straighter and more controlled braking, so our drivers feel more comfortable operating it over driving pup trailers. It’s been a very good move for us, and we plan to order another 5-axle in the future,” Hansen added.
Heil Trailer continues to collaborate without compromise to create solutions to industry needs, providing more efficient and safer transportation to drive the bottom line. The company has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers and the industry on the 5-axle petroleum trailer. As Rockafellow stated, “We see this as a great opportunity to be in tune with our dealer and customer as we all work together to grow their business.”
